Space Skilling Saturday 200 (We take a welcome break from Arkadia)

Start Location:- Arkadia Space Station.
Time:- 1900 MA.
Present: Nocturaline, Phil, Wolta and Myself.
Team name:-  Sleepyheads the 200th snooze

For the 200th SSS so we go to face the Locusta, Wolta warps us away from Arkadia at 1907, the delay being caused by a Cosmic Horror that decided to make a nuisance of its self so I had to kill it, sadly no global so we will have to return to Arkadia after the Locusta, bugger! It seems Kahlan will not be joining us again, at least on a regular basis, there is a new recruit waiting in the wings though.

Wolta’s hour:- It was busy in Engineering, Wolta reports a 4.35% gain on captain skill. Kills 32. I found that I needed more ammo but the webshop wouldn’t let me log in!

Cee’s hour:- I had to TT the loot after the 3rd of 4 session in the turret as I had no money for ammo. During the 4th session we manage a global of 70 PED on a mature? Before each session in a turret I visited Engineering to assist with repairs. Kills 55.

Nocturaline’s hour:- Again it was busy in Engineering. Nocturaline reports a gain of 1.55% on captain skill. Kills 45. After Nocturaline warps us back to Arkadia where a hostile takes a shot at us, by the time I get to a gun he’s long gone, shame.

A loss of 194 PED (I think MA wanted me to lose 200PED to celebrate the 200th SSS), a return of 74%.

Space Skilling Saturday 100 (a milestone SSS)

Start Location:- Arkadian Space
Time:- 1900 MA .
Present:- Kahlan, Nocturaline, Phil, Scarlott, Wolta and Myself.
Team name:- Sleepyheads and the 100th SSS

With all aboard a couple of minutes later than planned, I instructed Wolta to Warp to wherever she wished to skill, she promptly took us sub-warp into the Arkadian Training Grounds and we spent an hour skilling there against the Cosmic Horrors. Nocturaline had supplied some snowballs when she came aboard and a snowball fight broke out in Engineering at one point, Wolta spots a Mothership but did not get the name, a UFO perhaps?

After her hour Wolta hands over to me and I warp to the Locusta, this pushed the ship to the brink at one point, but it was well worth it, Engineering were kept busy for most of the hour and I managed a couple of small globals as well as a few decent loots. It seems 11 Locusta is about the safe limit with the combined repair ability of the crew and the current SI, the ship could handle a little more but if one happens to spawn too close it would be a case of emptying the chairs.

I pass on to Nocturaline the same instructions as I gave Wolta, Nocturaline elects to stay with the Locusta. 2 decent loots occur during her stint. It was necessary to supply an RK-20 to Wolta towards the end of the session. I spend some time explaining to Kahlan how to warp the ship. Once she was happy I asked Nocturaline to move the ship clear of the Locusta at the end of her shift and then hand the chair over to Kahlan for her first warp, which Nocturaline does.

Kahlan sits in the chair for the first time and initiates a warp which arrives very close to Crystal Palace, she then docks the ship swiftly, a very good job for this Warp Virgin. As there has been increased hostile activity of late both Nocturaline and myself manned the guns but we were not required.

Not a bad session, failed to make a profit but the loss was only 57 PED and the return was 90%.

Space Skilling Saturday 90 (Locusta for a change)

Location:- Unnamed Space.
Time:- 1800 MA.
Present:- Kahlan, Nocturaline, Phil, Wolta and Myself.
Team name:- Sleepyheads out of the zone!

Nocturaline had mined some gold on Cyrene and kindly added this to the ships armour increasing the Structural integrity, my thanks to her.

Wolta warps us from Cyrene to the location Locusta are known to be and we engage them at 1807. These can be tricky, they are faster than us so the potential for the ship blowing is increased, especially whilst we are killing them as plus one man in a turret is minus one man in Engineering. Wolta reported good skill gains, loot was poor with the exception of one of 37 PED.

I took the next hour, for me the skill gains seemed OK but the loot was dire all the way through.

Nocturaline took the last hour, for her the skills were poor though the loot improved marginally. Normally I carry 500 PED of ammo for SSS but during Nocturaline’s stint I had to visit the TT for an extra 100 PED worth, these take more to kill and are faster to collect. After Nocturaline took us to Next Island Space Station dragging a Locusta most of the way, this provided Engineering with a little to do and was something I could watch from a turret. After I kill it, all but Nocturaline and I log. After docking at NI we descend to the planet’s surface in my quad.

Looks like I managed to lose 187 PED this week which gives a return of 66% Quite expensive but fun.

Space Skilling Saturday 52 (Impractical joke)

Location:- Arkadian Space.
Time:- 1900 MA.
Present:- Wolta, Nocturaline, Phil and Myself.
Team name:- Sleepyheads laugh like a child!

Wolta was late, deliberately but more of that later. I made coffee and summoned Nocturaline, Phil was already aboard, I think he lives here, might explain the weird smell. I purchased a much needed RK-20 and and RK-5 from Nocturaline. Then asked Nocturaline to take the first shift. She dutifully headed to the helm while I remained in Engineering.

Nocturaline reported that both Kronan and Starfinder IX were also skilling, in addition I had seen Varyag skilling while I was hunting earlier.

After about 10 minutes Wolta logged in and headed to us in her Equus, yes the whole being late thing was a rouse to surprise Nocturaline and it most certainly worked, she seemed quite shocked, accusing Wolta of a lack of sanity.

Shortly after that it was time to slay the first group of Cosmic Horrors, the results were poor. About 20 minutes later another session at the guns was also poor. 10 minutes later Nocturaline handed over to Wolta.

Wolta had an hour at the helm, I was called to a turret thrice on all occasions the loot was poor. In between times we were kept busy in repair. We discussed our plans for next week, it’s our first anniversary of Space Skilling Saturday and we think we should try something different, it’s looking like it’s going to be Locusta but we may try several mobs, I’ll try to make a plan during the week. I also intend to introduce some training for the Sleepyheads, as of next week, each time I am called to a turret I will pick one at random and the pilot must learn to adjust the attitude of the ship to enable me to hit the mobs. This is in preparation for MA’s planned cessation of off-line transports, hopefully it will enable us to better defend ourselves against the pirate scourge. I spent quite some time chatting with Alaina about the ratings earned by pilots, this was spurred by Wolta suddenly becoming upstanding after purchasing the Equus and me being merely notable in the ship earlier though I was upstanding in my Quad. It seems that the ratings in bigger vessels have always been inaccurate and tend to vary quite a lot, however in the smaller ships there is more consistency, Alaina is not sure of the Equus effect and it seems we need to do some testing.

Finally I had an hour at the helm, my rating had returned to upstanding, mobs were sparse but I suspect that was due to the number of ships Skilling in that training ground, in addition to the vessels listed earlier I also spotted Starfinder XXIV, from what I saw we were the only ship hunting, I moved twice to a turret and on each occasion I got one good loot however the return was still poor as calculated after the fat lady had sung. When we finished, Wolta, Nocturaline and Phil all logged to go and sleep, Sleepyheads really is the right name for this crew. I stayed awake to write this ships log. Needles to say there was no testing of the Equus effect.
